Three artists from one studio, each with their own distinctive style and flavour, have been stirred together over the past four years, and through some mysterious creative chemistry, something new and delicious has begun to rise.
CAKE! is a celebration of growth, togetherness, and the sweet (sometimes messy) journey of creation. Over the past five years we have shared a working space that has held our evolution: Our experiments, our frustrations, our breakthroughs. The good times and the difficult ones.
Like the ingredients of a cake, each essential, each bring its own texture and tone. Our shared energy has baked into something layered, unexpected, and delicious. A sweet celebration of creativity, collaboration, and community.
Visually, our works sit worlds apart, though the essence remains the same; an observation of the human experience. This collaborative body of work takes a closer look at these nuanced experiences via the power of connection.
Our individual voices grow more powerful when rooted within a collective. We are stronger together.
Through our differing materials, movements and mark making, CAKE! invites the viewer into the rhythm of our shared expansion: one of continual growth evolution, of challenges and of the reward found in collaboration.
In this exhibition, CAKE! is both a symbol and a metaphor. It speaks to the layers built over time, the richness of shared experience and the cyclical nature of creative life. Like the ritual of baking or gathering, it holds a warm nostalgia; an offering made in love and care, but not without effort or imperfection.
