Here you have four of the six artists that make up State of Art celebrating the studio's 1st birthday recently. Each artist practices their own unique style but together we explore the peaks and troughs of life as a creative.

A note from Kate

State of Art has meant that I get to share my journey with people I now call my family. It's hard to summarise all of the ways sharing this space has allowed us to thrive as a collective, but the dynamic we've created is now invaluable to all of us in our careers.

Holly Terry

Holly Terry is a self taught visual Artist and art/design writer based on the Sunshine Coast. Working on large scale canvas, Holly’s abstract works are inspired by her journey through life, learning how to live with contentment.

Over the years, Holly has had exhibitions with brands such as Saint Cloche, Fenton & Fenton, Hunter & Folke at HAKE.

Rosie Woods

Rosie has spent the last decade creating captivating large-scale murals across the globe. Most recently, Meta commissioned her to paint an augmented reality mural at their headquarters in Silicon Valley.

In 2023, Rosie was recognised as one of 50 essential contemporary artists in Diego Lopez’s publication, ‘Street Art by Women.’

Em Niwa

Em Niwa is an Australian Japanese creating freelance illustration, murals, and traditional materials. Her freelance work and murals are bold and graphic, drawing from a background in animation and a childhood immersed in Japanese culture.

Her heart lies in working with slow and deliberate mediums: large scale oil paintings, textile design, and sculptural silversmithing.

Sophia | Art Support

After working in the industry for 10 years, Sophia is a practicing artist and the founder of Art Support Australia. Art Support is dedicated to equipping artists and arts workers with the skills and resources to build sustainable careers in the arts, providing one on one mentoring, workshops, programs and a newsletter full of artist opportunities across Australia.

Britt Van Leeuwen

Brit is an artist specialising in paintings, murals and creative designs.

Just like her, Britt's work has a free spirited and adventurous theme throughout, exploring with paintings of landscapes, animals and other sublime scenes.

Kate Florence, Holly Terry and Rosie Woods have since joined forces to create a group exhibition that focused on the friendship that was born out of this relationship. 'Cake!' was exhibited at Wentworth Gallery in November 2025.
