Framing & Care Tips

A guideline to enjoy your art forever.

Framing an artwork adds an element of luxury and finality to the work that is often overlooked. The scale and dimensions of my original artworks and prints means all framing is custom and made to order. Please allow up to 4 weeks for this process.

Prints are made with premium archival quality paper to ensure they are durable, long lasting and resistant to deterioration. However, framing will add an additional layer of protection for the artwork.

Due to this fragility of glass, custom framing for prints is currently only available to customers within Australia.

All frames are made in a American Oak or Walnut timber that adds warmth and character to a space.

If you have ordered an unstretched original artwork or unframed print and would like to have it framed, the process will vary between framers and artworks so I always suggest popping into your local framer to chat to them. Framing is an art form in itself so often a conversation is the best place to start—this way you can introduce the framer to the work and your space, together determining the best option for you.

My favourite way to frame is tight to the edges of the artwork with a blonde Oak or Walnut timber depending on the tones of the piece.

Custom Framing Prints

Some original artworks will be sold unstretched (canvas not yet pulled over a frame underneath, allowing it to be rolled up) to make for easier and cheaper shipping. Each listing will have a note to say whether the work is framed or unstretched.

Non-Reflective Glass

Non-reflective "Art Glass" is often used in museum displays and storefront displays to compensate the reflection caused from a lot of light.

This is an optional add-on for all framed prints in Australia. Most external framers will also offer this as option for unframed prints framed post purchase.

I highly encouraged this for framed prints that will be hung in very bright spaces as it can be difficult to see the artwork if there is too much reflection.

Care tips

Prioritising quality and longevity, all prints and original artworks are made with premium materials.

However to ensure the quality withstands years to come, please be sure to read the following tips so as to maintain the appearance of your art.

  • Keep all artworks out of direct sunlight.
  • Avoid any contact with moisture and be sure to dry immediately with a microfibre cloth should any piece come in contact with any liquid.
  • Avoid positions exposed to frequent or large changes in temperature.
  • Avoid positions with high levels of humidity or damp.
  • Take care when moving the piece around or placing it down.
  • Dust regularly with a soft white cloth.
  • Never use chemicals or water to clean your artwork. For thorough cleaning of original artworks, it’s best to book an appointment with a specialist to avoid causing damage that can be impossible to reverse.
