Rainbow Gelato Print

When I was 15 I worked in an ice cream van in Gloucestershire. Ice cream is a nostalgic memory for most, but for me it takes me back to days spent in a field, sketchbook and pencil in hand, waiting for my next customer. British Winters are cold, meek and miserable but in the Summer hibernation ends and people lap up the warm sun. Dog walkers and families would regularly pass by, throwing smiles and waves in my direction, but the customer that won my heart was Alfie–our resident donkey. Always in tow with his herd of horsies, whenever I noticed their heads poke through the window asking for a scoop, I had to oblige.
